This film stars
Sidney Poitier in his first screen role. It is a powerful story of racism,
local neighborhood street crime, the hatred that can be fostered in an
environment whose history stems in a lack of respect, prejudice and
nationalism. Poitier is a doctor working
in a hospital who comes into contact with a youth criminal played by Richard
Widmark. Character actors round off a superb cast and storyline that makes for
a compelling film.
